Real Business Opportunities Exist In The Country – Minister
{sidebar id=11 align=right}Ms Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Trade and Industry, had said real trade opportunities existed in the country and that there was the need for one to be innovative to identify the prospects.
She said this when she paid a familiarization tour of the Raanan Fish Feed West Africa Limited, a fish feed production company at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
The visit was to acquaint herself with the operations of the company and to see at first hand the production processes.
Ms Tetteh said many companies in the country were owned by foreigners who took advantage of the numerous opportunities available and had made good investments to benefit the entire society.
She said fish farming is one of the most profitable ventures and that the business of producing fish feed, which was the first of its kind was an important investment to the country saying it would reduce the importation of feed by fish farmers.
Ms Tetteh said the initiative would transform the aquaculture sector and would help ensure food security which was crucial for the development of the country saying “the best investment to have in the country is to have food security.”
Mr Raanan Berzak, Director of the Company, said the factory was established to meet the demand for feed in the country’s fast growing fishing industry.
He said “we realised the business potential in the fish sector and set up the company to help meet the demand” and that the company would encourage more people venture into fish farming as there was available feed to meet their needs and there would be no need to spend money importing fish feed.

Akufo-Addo beats Mills in Synovate Poll
{sidebar id=10 align=right}The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, will beat his main contender and incumbent President John Evans Atta Mills if elections were held today, according to the latest Synovate Ghana opinion poll.
The report said Nana Akufo-Addo will poll 44% ahead of President Mills, who polled 36% from about 2000 Ghanaians interviewed.
The report also pegs the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) leader, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, at 8% to be trailed by the People’s National Convention (PNC) leader, Hassan Ayariga with 1% on the assumption that presidential elections are held in Ghana today.
It outlined that Nana Akufo-Addo won in six out of the 10 regions, while President Mills won the other four. In their strongholds, the two main presidential contenders won. President Mills bagged 76 percent in the Volta Region as against Nana Addo’s 17, but in the Ashanti Region, President Mills had 22 as against 73 percent for Akufo-Addo.
The poll also concluded that 27% of the over 2000 Ghanaians interviewed contends that the economy is in a very poor state.
The Greater Accra, Central, Western and Brong Ahafo regions were christened as swing areas where Akufo-Addo recorded impressive results with the Central region going the way of the NDC.

{sidebar id=12 align=right}Sekou Nkrumah's move to NPP is 'joke of the century'- E.T. Mensah
The Minister of Works and Housing, E. T. Mensah has described Sekou Nkrumah’s move to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as "joke of the century".
According to him, Sekou Nkrumah cannot survive outside a social democratic party after destroying his credibility in the country’s politics.
In an interview with Joy FM, the Ningo Prampram MP said, “…as a serious minded person, when you find yourself in an organization and see that things are not going well, you shine at your little corner.”
E.T Mensah further stated, “someone who cannot even gel with his biological sister or have peaceful coexistence with his sister to build on the heritage of his father must not be taken seriously…what is he looking for?...let’s not waste time on Sekou…”
E.T. Mensah admonished Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah to study the works of his father and also Ghana’s political terrain after his move to the NPP.
He further added that the wise thing Sekou Nkrumah could have done was to join forces with his sister, Samia Nkrumah who is MP for Jomoro and also Chairman of the Convention's People Party to establish CPP as a formidable force rather than jumping onto the campaign trail of the NPP.
According to the Ningo Prampram MP, if Sekou Nkrumah’s move was engineered to draw NDC faithfuls to the NPP, then he should brace up for a surprise as the NDC would win the 2012 elections hands down.
Sekou Nkrumah who resigned last year from the NDC following several public criticisms of the Mills administration has consistently said he wants to ensure the NDC is kicked out of power.

Promises are attainable - Akufo-Addo
The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the December elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has declared that he would not allow the quest for political power to drive him into making promises that he cannot fulfill.
He told a forum of the Tertiary Education Students' Confederacy (TESCON) and the youth wing of the NPP at the Kumasi Polytechnic that the various promises he had made were carefully thought out and analysed, and the conclusion reached was that they were attainable.
He, therefore, challenged those who were disputing some of the promises, including the free senior high school education and the Inner City Development Fund, to prove why they could not be fulfilled instead of attacking his personality.
{sidebar id=12 align=right}Nana Akufo-Addo was in Kumasi to kick-start his “Restore Hope” tour in the Ashanti Region. His running mate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, accompanied him.
They were given a rousing welcome in the party’s stronghold, Ashanti Region, last Friday.
The forum turned into a rally as the number of party faithful who turned out to listen to the flag bearer and his running mate increased.
Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that the fact that President Mills had failed to fulfill the major promises he made to the people of Ghana did not mean he (Akufo-Addo) would also fail the people when he was elected as President of Ghana.
Nana Akufo-Addo said President Mills had no justification asking to be given another four years in power since he had only inflicted pain on Ghanaians.
Stressing that the time when politicians could use lies to move people to their side was gone, the NPP leader pointed out the need for politicians to abide by the rules of the game to help build a strong democracy.
He reiterated that it was unacceptable for only the rich in society to provide the best education for their children and said, “This is why I am appealing to God to give me the Presidency and this will be the thing of the past.”
Nana Akufo-Addo also gave the assurance that the welfare of teachers would receive prime attention under his presidency.
He said having gone round the country; he was worried about youth unemployment and pointed out that a government that was unable to fight youth unemployment to appreciable levels was not worth another term in office.
Touching on the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), Nana Akufo-Addo gave the assurance that under his presidency no beneficiary would be sacked for political reasons. He spoke against the manipulation of the police for political reasons and said that was dangerous to the development of the country's democracy.
Expressing concern about “too much poverty” in the country, the NPP flag bearer said, “God did not create Ghana for the people to be poor.”
“We have what it takes to improve the lives of the people but what is needed is a government that would drive the machine effectively.”
Nana Akufo-Addo described his running mate as an economic guru whose presence in the political arena had further confused the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He expressed regret that the NDC continued to insult Bawumia after his “excellent lecture” on the economy instead of analysing what he said, and called on party supporters to hard work to ensure victory for them in the December elections.
Dr Bawumia was happy to see the energy from the party supporters in the Ashanti Region.
He stated that “the economy is in a terrible state” and reminded the NDC that they could not use propaganda to manage the economy.
Dr Bawumia was convinced that a government led by Nana Akufo-Addo was capable of making Ghana the economic hub of West Africa.
