NDC 3 Million School Uniforms Is A Hoax

{sidebar id=10 align=right}A five-month investigation carried out by the 'New Statesman' has revealed that the ruling National Democratic Congress’ much touted distribution of three million school uniforms to the over five million school children at the basic level is nothing but a hoax.

New Statesman reporters dispatched across the length and breadth of the country reveal that not more than 150,000 school uniforms, over the last four years, have been distributed to school children across the country.

This translates into one school uniform for every 33 school children as opposed to the NDC manifesto claim of having provided three million school uniforms to some five million school children, representing three school uniforms for every five school children.

In some schools where children had been given these uniforms, teachers who spoke to the New Statesman on condition of anonymity described the uniforms as oversized, calling it “the onetime school uniform”, as pupils can wear them from class 1 to JHS 3.

For example, at the Adwenase Primary School in the Adansi South district, the Kojo Nkwanta Junior High School in the Adansi North district of the Ashanti Region, and the Maase primary school in Afigya-Sekyere, not even a single child was seen wearing the NDC’s new school uniform.

In Amoaya in the Bodi Constituency; Bonsai, Bonsu-Nkwanta, Asempanaye, Adaabokrom, and Ofosukrom all in the Juaboso constituency, New Statesman reporters recorded only 27 out of some 800 school children with school uniforms.

Similarly, the NDC’s claim of having provided 160 million exercise books to the 4.8 million children at the basic level came under scrutiny. This claim by the NDC implies that every school going Ghanaian child has received some 33 school exercise books since 2009. This claim also proved to be false. Even before our reporters completed the task of ascertaining the number of exercise books distributed, the President, John Dramani Mahama, had contradicted what was stated in his own 2012 Manifesto.

At the President’s evening encounter organized by the Institute of Economic Affairs, John Mahama stated that “We have also distributed 43 million exercise books.” However, page 15 of the NDC 2012 manifesto states that “over 40 million exercise books per year have been distributed to about 4.8 million pupils in Basic Schools nationwide as part of our commitment to investing in our people.” This claim by the NDC implied that they had distributed 160 million exercise books to school children across the country.

However, checks done by the New Statesman have revealed that less than 12 million exercise books have been distributed nationwide. In subsequent editions, the New Statesman will publish, in its entirety the report detailing the actual numbers of school uniforms and exercise books that have been distributed by the NDC, nationwide.

Fake Voters’ ID Cards In Takoradi?

Fake Voters’ ID Cards In Takoradi?

{sidebar id=10 align=right}Members of the Western Regional Branch of “Nana For President 2012 (NAFOP), a youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), say some people in Sekondi-Takoradi are clandestinely replicating the Biometric Voter Identification (ID) cards of unsuspecting people in the area.

According to them, intelligence gathered indicates that the alleged heinous exercise was ongoing at Darkokrom, a suburb of Kojokrom and other communities in the metropolis.

Members of the regional NAFOP noted that they had officially reported the illegal activities to the regional police command. They stressed that the police gave the assurance that they would collaborate with the Electoral Commission (EC) to investigate the matter for the appropriate actions to be taken.

Addressing a press conference in Takoradi yesterday, Sampson Nimako Darko, Regional Coordinator of NAFOP, alleged that the EC was collaborating with miscreants perpetrating the heinous acts.

He could not fathom why as many as 205,438 and 92,886 ballot papers were rejected in the first and second rounds respectively of the 2008 general elections. “What were the EC and its trained officials at the polling stations doing for this number of votes to go waste,” he quizzed.

The NAFOP Regional Coordinator claimed about 80 per cent of the 2008 rejected ballot papers were for the presidential candidate of the NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Darko, popularly called “Sampson K” noted that it was obvious the integrity and neutrality of the EC had been compromised ahead of the 2012 general elections and that most Ghanaians were disappointed with the alleged nefarious activities of the EC.

He therefore called on other opposition political parties to join hands and ask the EC to properly ascertain the details of voters at the polling stations.

“In order to have peaceful and credible elections, we enjoin the EC to carry out its constitutional mandate by educating the electorate and the political parties as to the modalities of the elections and to remain neutral,” he noted.

NDC MP Doesn’t Know Name Of His Constituency

The Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which spear-headed the creation of the Akuapem South Constituency with its headquarters at Aburi, as part of the creation of the controversial 45 new seats, appears to be ignorant about the name of their new creation.

Mr. Ntow Boahene, who has abdicated from his official duty as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, and set up camp in the new constituency, in a frantic effort to go to Parliament, apparently does not even know the name of the constituency he is working himself into frenzy to represent.

At the official launch of his campaign at Aburi at the week-end, the NDC candidate began on a false note. All references he made on the platform and literature outlining his campaign strategy as Aburi Constituency.

As a matter of fact, the new Constituency is known in the books of the Electoral Commission as Akuapem South.

To the amazement of the party faithful and other invited guests, who thronged the forecourt of the Omanhene’s Palace, to be living witnesses to the launch by the NDC top officials of the party, who addressed the gathering kept referring to the new constituency as Aburi.

They were confused between a non existing ‘Aburi Constituency’ and the newly created Akuapem South Constituency, which was coined from the existing Aburi-Nsawam Constituency by the controversial C.I.78, initiated by the NDC and which matured into law on October 2, 2012.

The other constituency, carved from the Aburi-Nsawam constituency, is Nsawam-Adoagyiri, with Nsawam as the headquarters.

Interestingly, Mr. Boahene had all his posters and banners, including those of him with President John Mahama appealing to voters to vote for him as their “Parliamentary Candidate for Aburi Constituency.”

From hindsight, one would have thought that the blunder was perhaps, influenced by the candidate’s zeal in attempting to woo the electorates of Aburi to vote for him, and the NDC and would correct it on a bigger platform, as was presented to him last Saturday.

That did not materialized as Mr. Boahene kept exposing his ignorance about the newly created Akuapem South Constituency.

Surprisingly, some big wigs of the NDC, including the Minister of Local Government & Rural Development, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former Minister of Local Government & Rural Development, Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi, a local government expert, and the Eastern Regional Minister, Victor Emmanuel Smith, who should have had the names of the newly created constituencies at their fingertips, and should have corrected the blunder sat unconcerned.

A source at the Electoral Commission (EC) told the paper that the EC also made a similar mistake, but was corrected by the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. O.B. Amoah, who is also contesting the Akuapem South seat, when he presented his nomination forms.

STATEMENT: Playing The Northern Card...

STATEMENT: Playing The Northern Card...

{sidebar id=10 align=right}PLAYING THE NORTHERN CARD – WAS PREZ MILLS KILLED TO MAKE WAY FOR A NORTHERN CANDIDATE?

Ladies and gentlemen of the media, the young patriots have called this press conference to address the dangerous campaign message of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that President Mahama deserves to be President simply because he is a Northerner.

First and foremost we are all Ghanaians and what keeps us together is more than that which divides us. The Ghanaian society has so intermarried that it is difficult for most people to genuinely say today they come from only one part of Ghana.

Ghana has never slipped into civil or ethnic conflict because, as a people since independence we have put policies and programs in place to ensure fair representation of all ethnic groups in the country. This has ensured that out of about 9 Presidents this country has had, two have been Northerners including the current President. To seek to imply that no Northerner has ever ascended to the high office of President is not just historically incorrect but also malicious and evil, intended to divide and rule this country.

NDC gurus such as Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary and campaign manager of President Mahama, stated inter alias that Northerners have now got the chance to elect one of their own to become President.

Dr Tony Aidoo, director of research at the Presidency who sees nothing good in any Ghanaian but himself, makes the point that it is time for a full blooded Northerner to become President than a half baked Northerner as Vice President. These statements by NDC scribes are to say the least dangerous, myopic, ethnocentric and a recipe for civil war in Ghana.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Young Patriots are well aware that Northerners are very discerning, well meaning and very intelligent people who have contributed immensely to the development of this great country called Ghana, however the President of the republic of Ghana cannot be allowed to get away with his ethnocentric and genocidal message.

President Mahama speaking in Zuarungu in the Upper East region on Saturday 10th November said ‘’our brother Aliu Maham was a Vice President for 8years. I was Vice President for 3 and half years. For almost 12 years we have tasted Vice Presidency. It is no longer what we want…They want to win here, they should put him (Bawumia) in number one and the two of us contest and then they will get something from here’’

Ladies and gentlemen, is the President in his desperate attempt to win power telling Ghanaians today that he is a President for only Northerners? Ghana deserves better than a greedy President who for his own parochial agenda wants the country to go up in ashes.

Let it be noted that President Mahama categorically states that he has been Vice President for three and a half years and that Northerners have been Vice Presidents for the past 12 years and are fed up with it because they deserve better.

Did the President spend the past three and half years trying to get rid of President Mills to fulfil his ambitions to be President?

Ladies and gentlemen of the media, there are too many coincidences surrounding the death of President Mills that makes us believe that what President Mahama said about no longer wanting to be Vice President, was a confession. This is to the effect that President Mills was gotten out of the way to fulfil his Northern agenda.

First and foremost, it is mind boggling that three months after the demise of President Mills, Ghanaians do not know the cause of the death of an otherwise healthy President.

The circumstances of his death, where he died and how he died and even the time he died as told by NDC gurus such as General Mosquito and Dr Kwabena Adjei, suggest a grand scheme by the NDC and President Mahama to eliminate the former President. Mind you ladies and gentlemen, the women organizer Anita Desoza is on record to have said the death the good old Prof was good riddance, as it would have affected the chances of the NDC if it has been later had he lived any longer.

It is our firm believe that, the President being unable to use the office of the departed President, his continuous use of the office of the Vice President after several months of his death of Prof Mills is further attestation that the President has something to hide.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are stating unequivocally that President Mahama has brought the office of the President into disrepute and his continuous use of ethnocentric messages, the quest for a Northern President by any means necessary even at the expense of another life is to say the least distasteful and wicked.

DEMANDS

1. We Young Patriots wish to call on the Christian council of Ghana, the Muslim council, NGO’S, statesmen all Northerners ,the Northern peace council ,the Northern regional house of chiefs and the Council of State to in no uncertain terms condemn the comments of the President.

2. We are by this press conference asking the President to unreservedly apologize to all Northerners and the people of Ghana for such tribal comments.

3. Failure by the President to apologize and we the Young Patriots will deem it to be ok to make similar calls.

4. In the matter of 72 hrs after this press conference, If we do not hear from the President, we shall go out there and campaign that all Southerners should vote for a southerner to become President.

We dare anyone or state institution to call us to order after we take such a step. We would be learning from the President and if he is not wrong, we cannot be wrong. It is our sincerest hope it shall not come to this, but this is no threat for we would be responding to the President’s call.

God Bless Our Homeland Ghana

Signed

We'll Not Release Original Tape - ICGC

The International Central Gospel Church (ICGG) has said it is not obliged to release the original tape of Dr. Mensah Otabil’s sermon on education and other matters.

{sidebar id=10 align=right}The General Overseer of ICGC, Pastor Otabil has come under heavy public attack when portions of his sermons were released in the media condemning the much-touted free Senior High School education policies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and other smaller parties contesting the December 7 elections.

He however had a media briefing on Monday and called on President John Mahama to call his party members to order on what he described as a manipulation of his sermons for political gains.

There have since been calls for the church to release the original tape to authenticate his claim that those sermons were doctored.

But speaking to Citi News, a Senior Associate Pastor of the church, Rev Kofi Okyere insisted the church would not be pressured to take such a path which is likely to complicate matters.

“The simplicity of the matter is that they are using Doc’s [Otabil] voice without permission. He doesn’t want his voice being used like that so we are asking them to stop it,” he said.

“Now they are making it seem that he [Otabil] has no integrity and is a coward. That is not fair. Just stop using it,” he noted.

Rev Okyere maintained that “The onus does not lie on us to bring the tape. We don’t want to go back and forth with this. Don’t use it and you are insulting him. It’s not fair. The fact that he has produced an album and it is being sold on the market doesn’t mean anyone can use it anyhow. We think they are not using it well and should quit it.”

“If they don’t want to stop, it’s up to them. They can do whatever they want. We will not take it to court. We leave it for God,” he added.
