I'll Drastically Transform Ghana's Economy - Akufo-Addo
{sidebar id=10 align=right}The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ended his tour of Ashaiman promising to transform Ghana’s current economy into an industrial economy.
Addressing traders and residents at Ashaiman, Nana Addo preached his message of free education policy and stressed the commitment of his party to develop Ghana drastically. “I want to make Ghana an Industrial economy, a manufacturing economy that will create jobs for the people of this country.
“America, Germany, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and various other countries developed because of their education policies. That is why I have stated that by God’s grace if I am elected President of this country, I will implement the free education policy.
“We need to protect the people of this country and ensure transparency. We have enough resources to implement the free education policy that is why I say boldly that I will bring free education into this country” Nana Akufo-Addo said.

Ursula Thrills Dansoman Muslim Community
The ‘Jesus Is Alive’ park in Dansoman was the venue for a thrilling football gala competition organised yesterday by Ursula Owusu for the Muslim youth in Nasarawa and Tunga communities.
The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Ablekuma South constituency who has become the darling of the Muslim youth in the constituency was elated to be with them once more. Having engaged the Muslim women on many occasions on how to solve the problems women faced in our society, she obviously felt it was time she gave the young men their due. The occasion drew 4 football teams, which usually engaged in keep fit sessions on Sundays, for a fierce football competition. Cash prizes, jerseys, footballs and trophies were given to all participating teams.
Having lived in Saudi Arabia some years back, it was not surprising Ursula Owusu has built a very cordial relationship with the Muslim community in Dansoman and other communities in the constituency. It was however surprising how many of the Muslim youth expressed regrets for supporting the current Member of Parliament for the Constituency whom they had never set eyes on ever since he was elected into Parliament.
Reacting to concerns raised by the youth in her address after the gala, she emphasized her commitment to veer off the ‘lip service’ most politicians paid the electorate after being handed the mandate of the people.
She reiterated the promise by Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP to make SHS free and charged the youth to support the vision of the NPP flag bearer and vote massively for the NPP, since education was the surest way to transform our lives and that of our communities.
The programme attracted some National Executives and stalwarts of the Party including the Deputy National Women’s Organizer, Ms. Tina Mensah, Hajia Rukaya and supporters from the women’s wing in Takoradi. The National Nasara Co-ordinator of the Party, popularly known as ‘Lakulaku’ who was at the event also introduced the youth to some of the slogans designed by the Nasara club for the 2012 election. The Assembly Member for Mampong Okai Electoral Area, Ibrahim Bako, was also present.
Increasingly, the Ghanaian electorate is buying into the vision of making education a right and not a privilege.

Kufuor: Peaceful elections 2012 depends on the referee
{sidebar id=10 align=right}Former president J.A Kufour is calling on the EC to create a fair and balanced atmosphere for the conduct of election 2012.
The Electoral Commission has come under a barrage of criticism from various interest groups including leading opposition party members, over the decision to create 45 new constitutions ahead of the December elections.
Members of the Minority in Parliament on Monday walked out during deliberations on the first of the mandatory 21 sitting days required for the maturation of the Legislative Instrument (L.I77) giving legal backing for the creation of the new constituencies.
Addressing a cross-section of the youth from around the country at a three day workshop organized by his foundation, the J.A Kufour Foundation in collaboration with the International Republic Institute, Mr. Kufour noted that any lack of fairness to parties contesting in the 2012 elections, could spark unnecessary tension and violent acts for the country.
The former President noted that “the national constitution says the Electoral Commission must be independent of the Executive, independent of the legislature and independent everybody. So the referee will there as somebody who is there to see to the success of the process from the beginning to the end".
“If we will have peaceful elections this year, it will depend on how the referee conducts itself above all”, Mr. Kufuor stressed.
He urged the participants to take advantage of the opportunities the Foundation presents to them, and learn more about leadership in order to influence their peers on campuses in other parts of the country.

Mahama Has Failed Ghanaians With Policy Statement - NPP
The New Patriotic Party has described the policy statement delivered by President Mahama as disappointing and a failure to Ghanaians.
According to the NPP, the statement clearly confirms that the National Democratic Congress administration has governed the country in the last three years without a vision and a sense of direction.
President Mahama on Tuesday September 4, delivered his policy statement for the next three months.
In the statement, President Mahama said he has tasked the Attorney General to ensure that all monies wrongfully paid to individuals and institutions under the cover of judgment debt are retrieved.
I will “ensure that all monies paid to persons and institutions who do not deserve them are retrieved through all legal means at the disposal of the State”.
President Mahama added that his government for the next three months is determined to break the cycle of over-spending, especially in an election year.
“Strict instructions have already gone out to all sectors against any unbudgeted expenditures. No new projects are allowed to be undertaken without strict adherence to the discipline of the national budget”.
President Mahama also stated that he is willing to meet all leaders of the various political parties in an ice breaking meeting to discuss matters of national concern.
"In the long term, inclusive governance must address the moderation and reform of the winner takes all system of governance. As President I will also meet the leadership of the opposition at least twice a year to address matters of national concern. I hope to hold one such ice breaking meetings soon and I hope it is followed by others".
But speaking to XYZ News, a deputy communications director of the NPP, Yaw Buaben Asamoa said initiating policies and tasking institutions to be proactive three months ahead to the general elections indicates the failure of President Mahama’s led administration.
He stated that President Mahama’s policy statement contained nothing inspiring which would motivate Ghanaians to retain the NDC administration in the upcoming elections.
