STATEMENT: John Mahama 2012 Campaign Team Officially Replies NPP
The John Mahama 2012 Campaign has noted the content of a press conference addressed by a deputy communications director of the opposition NPP.
We are of the view that it is important to raise the level of political discourse to a higher level of decency and debate to focus on the issues of most concern to Ghanaians and not flimsy, baseless personal attacks.
We note with regret that our opponents in the NPP are obviously not capable of conducting their campaign within that frame. This is unfortunate, but no doubt would give the people of Ghana an indication of the pathetic and desperate nature of their campaign for election 2012.
{sidebar id=10 align=right}The content of the NPP press conference is not worth public time, as it brings home no issues worthy of consideration by the good people of Ghana. It was simply an attempt to malign His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.
Did President Mahama give STX $264 million? No.
Did President Mahama terminate the contracts between the Government of Ghana and CP, Rockshell and Alfred Woyome? No.
Beyond throwing allegations of Corruption at appointees of this Government did the text of their press conference have any substance? No.
The respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies will respond in detail to all the allegations of corruption involving projects of those Ministries, and the people of Ghana will be reminded of the details of each transaction and the process it went through.
We will also remind Ghanaians of transactions that were concluded during the NPP administration, and properties that were acquired by NPP functionaries, or sold by the NPP Government to their business cronies so that voters are reminded of the facts surrounding the transactions the previous administration was involved with.
The NDC Government of the Late President John Atta Mills, and now President Mahama has focused on bringing development across the country.
The people of Ghana heard these affirmations in the tributes that were paid to the Late President Mills, and these have reflected in the public endorsement of President Mahama as he has travelled the length and breadth of this country.
This is what the NPP would like the people of Ghana to forget hence the vicious personal attack on John Dramani Mahama.
Unlike the speech writers of the NPP we believe the people of Ghana are more discerning, and now that they have made the debate on character central to their campaign, we believe that the people of Ghana will make the assessment of the character of the contenders for the Presidency, and choose the better man to advance the agenda of creating a peaceful, prosperous country where every citizen irrespective of where they come from, or their religious and political affiliation will have the opportunity to succeed.
We have taken note of the fact that the NPP and Nana Akufo- Addo have proceeded to launch a viral attack on facebook and other such social media platforms in the vain hope perhaps, that once allegations and slander are planted online they will at some point be repeated in the print and electronic media as news. Desperate people try desperate tactics, and as the good book says, "by their fruits you shall know them".
President Mahama assures the people of Ghana that he will continue to work in their best interest. The NDC campaign for the 2012 elections will continue to focus on the most important social, economic and governance issues affecting our country and will explain to the people of Ghana in this campaign the areas on which John Dramani Mahama and his Government will focus their attention if given the mandate of the people of this country, in order to work for you and continue to advance the better Ghana agenda.

I thought the Akans were Intelligent but....
History made me understand how intelligent and wise the Akans were or are. Many a Ghanaian in time of difficulty approached the Akan for directions. People came from all the four corners of Ghana to drink from the overflowing fountain of wisdom of the Akans. Their colleagues from other tribes held them in high esteem.
{sidebar id=11 align=right}From current empirical observations, I doubt if the Akans were, or are, what they are said to be. I have come to establish that many bad nuts among them have become traitors, betraying their own people. For the quest of amassing illegal wealth, some Akans have stooped too low to the political insanity in practice by the NDC government. They have sold their self-pride, conscience, and just become stooges to the NDC manipulators. In the light of their absurd attitudes in portrayal, one may well question their supposed legendary intelligence and tribal superiority.
I am not a tribalist but the current attitude of some Akans that beggars belief really disgusts me. They have sold their birthright for peanut, thus, corruption. As Esau sold his birthright to Jacob, the younger brother, so have the Akans out of outright stupidity sold their numerical superiority to the minority tribes, especially, the Ewes.
To buttress my contention, the following instances are how the Akans have acted irresponsibly to belittle themselves in my "korokoro"eyes, as a Nigerian will say. Ex-Major Boakye Djan, an Akan from Brong staged the successful June 4th 1979 military coup d'état that brought Rawlings to power. Although I detest military takeovers of elected governments, I would have expected Boakye Djan to become the Head of State instead of giving it to Rawlings. In the end, Rawlings was chasing him to kill so Boakye Djan escaped to the UK to seek political asylum. Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings, an Akan from either Ashanti Region or Volta Region, might have sat unconcerned or aided his husband, AFRC Chairman Rawlings to abduct and kill in cold blood, fellow Akan High Court Judges and many other Akans.
Yaw Boateng Gyan, a fellow Akan from Brong has recently been caught on secret tapes plotting to kill some Ghanaians, especially, his fellow Akans simply in an attempt to retain his NDC government in power. Kobby Acheampong, a half-Akan from Mampong in Ashanti Region goes on air to insult the entirety of the citizens of his fatherland (Ashanti Region) for being "Kookoase nkruasefo3". Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC General Secretary from Seikwa in Brong or Bontuku in the Ivory Coast, a pure Akan, goes on air to utter balderdash. He threatens amidst glee that the NDC hoodlums enlisted into the Special Forces are there to kill Akans that form the bulk of the NPP party should they dire to subvert the chances of NDC winning election December 7, 2012.
My own fellow Kumawu citizen (The Finance and Economic Planning Minister), is hugely supervising the gargantuan illegal payments of judgment debt to the NDC and their cronies. Some of the NDC recipients of such illegal monies streaming into their stinking pockets may intend to use them to subvert the very existence of his fellow Akans especially, the Ashantis.
From the few instances enumerated above, ask yourself if the Akans are damn fools or they are wise. In my opinion, they are complete bigots to allow the mischievous minority Ewe tribe to manipulate them in an attempt to subdue the Akans.
What annoys me is the Ewe policy in perpetuation where they refuse Akans public sector jobs for simply being Akans. Rawlings, that devil incarnate who the NDC are now paying back in his own coin, introduced that policy of positive discrimination in workplaces against the Akan. This policy is in continuation under the President Mills/Mahama and President Mahama/Amissah-Arthur NDC regimes.
Some Akans out of stupidity, greediness, shortsightedness and sheer wickedness are helping the minority tribe enslave the majority tribe of which they belong. The Akans in general vote massively the NDC yet the NDC always see us as their enemies to exterminate from the surface of the earth if they had their own way. They hate especially, the Ashantis, with passion yet some greedy sycophantic bastards in Ashanti rent themselves out to the NDC to help the NDC subdue the majority of their fellow Ashantis.
Those greedy and selfish Ashantis that have ears should hear me and change for the better. Do not assist the NDC to bring your own people down just because you want to possess a potbelly (the Ghanaian sign of riches). Aspire for all Ghanaians to live in peace irrespective of tribes. The governments should treat everybody equally. I believe in oneness as a nation of One people with a Common destiny.

The Real and Forgotten Heroes: Arthur, Yeboah & Poku
{sidebar id=11 align=right}The Real and Forgotten Heroes: Lt. Arthur, Lt. Yeboah and 2nd Lt.Osei Poku!
As a student of behavior and culture, I find it interesting and intriguing that in Ghana, we continue to reward and dignify the very behaviors that account for our current woes and will continue to do so. We reward bad behavior and jubilantly expect good outcomes. Take Ghana's main airport in Accra. Why should we name it after a coup maker and nation wrecker called Kotoka? What really did this man contribute to our national development? Imagine visiting Ghana with a friend and having to explain what Kotoka did and why it is critical that we have our main airport named after him. We are trying to build a democracy but our heroes are nation wreckers and coup makers. What part of the lessons on reinforcement theory did we seriously miss?
Kotoka, for those of you who don’t know, was part of the cabal that overthrew President Nkrumah. He is nothing short of an imperialist tool who joined hands with other quislings and our NLM nation wreckers to do Ghana in. A lot of problems we experience now can be traced to the culture of coups. Are these the people that we dignify today? Imagine a nation wrecker and terrorist like Baffour Akoto being promoted as champion of democracy and federalism. Oh these shameless men! Has the UP/NLM/NLC/PP/NPP no shame at all? These were the people, that if listened to, Ghana as we enjoy today, will never exist. These malignant narcissists were willing to bite their nose to spite their sullen faces. Now, they want us to believe that they are heroes and wanted Ghana as is!
Instead of dignifying these malcontents, why don’t we dignify heroes like Lt Arthur, Lt. Yeboah and 2nd Lt. E. Osei Poku? Folks, these were the real heroes who tried to save us from the tools of the enemy from within and without. For those of you who don’t know, Arthur, Yeboah and Osei Poku, are the gallant young men who stood up to the heist tagged NLC. On the 17th of April, 1967, these gallant young men stood up to the rogue NLC regime and challenged their very existence.
They challenged the lies, corruption and self enriching orgy that the NLC and their UP/NLM/PP/NPP friends were frolicking in. In the course of their effort to drain the swamp, Kotoka, the chief quislings, met his ultimate death. Later, Rawlings killed Afrifa out of spite. Kotoka’s self avowed juju protection could not save him from the hot lead that poured from the guns of these men. While I glorify not death, I make no apology or show no remorse for quislings who have destroyed or delayed our promising future.
Arthur, Yeboah and Poku challenged the political mandate of the NLC (Notorious Liars Council) and pointed to the corruption and wanton destruction that these small minds were putting Ghana through. If today we enjoy democracy and a free opposition, it is because of the blood of these young officers. We should actually take Kotoka’s stinking name off the airport in Accra and instead put the name of these gallant men on it.
{sidebar id=10 align=right}Never must we reward nation wreckers like Kotoka, Afrifa, Deku, Halley and co! At least Arthur and co, tried to remove from office, a military dictatorship, premised on lies, deception, corruption and self aggrandizement. In contrast, Kotoko, Afrifa, Deku, Halley and co, enamored by their small western controlled minds, removed a duly constituted government from power. I have no problem if a military movement removes from power, an illegal and self-serving military government manipulated by outside forces.
What Yeboah, Arthur and Poku tried to save us from was the senseless discontinuation of programs and practices that served the national interest more than it did the parochial interest of the NLM matemeho liars and the potentates that they grovel to. I can’t figure out the primal destructive genes that seem to rudder these nation wreckers brigade. What is it about us that makes it priority one to throw the baby out with the bath water? Why remove a constitutional government and then throw out everything it tried to do? Why not sift the good from bad? It certainly can’t be all bad. Can it? Yet for the small troglodytic mind, anything not coming out of their limited bandwidth is puke! Lord have mercy!
You see, some are anchored by blind hate for the other. They are so full of hate that, like male lions taking over a pride, they will destroy all the existing offsprings and father their own. The problem is that these mental dwarfs don't have the corner on good ideas. Indeed as a result of this small minded behavior, other political factions are inclined to retaliate.
In the end, this creates a cyclical vindictive political culture that does not operate in the interest of the people. So, are we better than lions if we continue to behave like small minded creatures? Those guilty of this mindset are the ones with small crab minds that Nana Addo enjoys talking about. Unfortunately for him, his party or tradition suffers from an infestation of such. Sorry Nana! History does not lie! Baffour Akoto and his cohorts are such men who should be nothing but sad footnote of Ghana's history.
Lately, we have the flag bearer of the NPP championing free education. What he has not admitted is the fact that the tradition that he represents, destroyed free education as we know it in Ghana. His were the people that opposed Nkrumah’s free education and removed him from office. Not only did they remove him from office, they discontinued programs that were benefitting the country and moving us in the right direction.
A lot of these loud mouths and blowhards that you see at the moment are products of Nkrumah’s free education program. Had it not been Nkrumah’s free education policy, a lot of these people will be rotting in their villages. Instead of admitting that they were wrong, they shamelessly tout Nkrumah’s ideas without giving him the credit he deserves.
My fellow Ghanaians, are you not fed up with these starts and fits? Today we have a civilian government, tomorrow we have a military junta. Today we have NPP development plan, tomorrow we have NDC development. Where is Ghana’s development plan? Where is the people’s development plan? The real last credible development plan was Nkrumah's 7 year plan. Why can't we have continuity instead of this yo-yo rhythm? Are you not fed up with these self absorbed men who cannot find humility in admitting mistakes? Whenever Ghana is placed on the skids of parochialism, our development is compromised.
We must stop those who must have it their way or ruin it for the whole. We must not reward those who hail terrorists and coddle violent extremists amongst us. We must reject those who continue to call for tribal genocide. The cost of tolerating these egomaniacs and lying charlatans is our stunted development and regression.
Let me admit here that I support subsidized education. Indeed, I fully support subsidized healthcare as well. My pet peeve is our knack to reward bad behavior that stalls our development and expect good tidings. My caution to Ghanaians is this: Buyer beware! These latter day self conferred saints and political charlatans steal from you and sell you the very things they stole from you. As if the latter crime is not enough, they will turn around and hail themselves big minds and miracle workers! God save us! The truth must be told to the youth! Viva Ghana!

No law bans use of children in political campaign ads- Dadzie
{sidebar id=10 align=right}A child rights activist is kicking against the use of children in political campaign adverts.
Bright Appiah believes such ads are a violation of the rights of the children as enshrined in the constitution.
His criticisms follow recent political campaign ads in which children were clamouring for the free Senior High School being promised by the New Patriotic Party flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
Children were also used in the run- up to the 2008 election as well as the one before it.
Bright Appiah is convinced the children are often exploited in such adverts. He told Joy News the fundamental rights of children must be respected.
When his attention was drawn to the fact that these children may have been used with the consent of their parents, Appiah retorted parents do not have the sole authority to determine whether their children can be used for such ads.
He said the social welfare and other allied institutions must be involved in such decision.
But the Executive Secretary of the Advertising Associations of Ghana Mr. Francis Dadzie said there is no law that bans the use of children in any type of advert in Ghana.
He said the only concern as specified in the ethics of international advertising is exploiting the innocence of children and getting them to pressurize their parents to buy some products for them.
But the use of children in adverts cannot be banned, he insisted, explaining there are clearly defined roles children can be allowed to play in adverts.
“If there is a political party that has a product or service or benefit that is targeted at children, you have to use your daughter and not you, Dadzie told Joy News’s Dzifa Bampoh.

Rawlings Won’t Join NDC Campaign Trail – NDP
{sidebar id=11 align=right}The leadership of the National Democratic Party (NDP) has advised its supporters and members to “ignore the propaganda schemes of the NDC and be rest assured that President Rawlings will campaign for the NDP for the December elections.
A press statement issued by the leadership of the party stated that the formation of the NDP was aimed at “restoring those values he, [Mr. Rawlings] loved and remains steadfast to defend and protect."
Below is the full statement
“The National Democratic Party have observed with deep concern, the use of deliberate screaming headlines by leading members of the National Democratic Congress to deceive the public that Former President Rawlings has endorsed and will campaign for the Mahama led NDC in the upcoming election.
{sidebar id=10 align=right}The NDP reserves the right to set the record straight on this deliberate distortions of the fact as it is aimed at weakening the confidence of the hundreds of thousands of our membership who look up to President Rawlings for political direction.
It is an undeniable fact that when former President Rawlings attended the NDC congress in Kumasi, he stated clearly that the chances of the NDC winning the December elections depends on the ability of President Mahama to cleanse and restore integrity and morality to the party and government something that has not been done. It is also factual that when the Former President Rawlings addressed the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in Ho last week, he was emphatic about booming corruption within the ranks and file of the NDC.
President Rawlings went further to complain how the limited resources of the State have been hijacked by a few at the top to the detriment of the masses.
It is the candid view of the NDP that, the question of which party former President Rawlings will campaign for in the December elections is a foregone conclusion as the core values of the NDP and those of President Rawlings are deeply interlinked.
The formation of the NDP must be noted is purposed to restore grassroot participation in our governance, nip rampant corruption in the bud, give hope to the abandoned masses at the grassroots and amongst many others, save Ghana from the cliff between the politicians of today and their merchant friends who continue to loot the nation coffers through over pricing of contracts, undertaking of shoddy works that put lives at risk etc.
It is also an undeniable fact that the new NDC is guilty of the above tragedies that befall our dear nation and there is absolutely no chance Former President Rawlings will associate himself with the ills he was willing to sacrifice his life to fight from 1979 to date.
The leadership of the NDP wish to reassure our numerous supporters and the Ghanaian public to ignore the propaganda schemes of the NDC and rest assured that President Rawlings will campaign for the NDP for the December elections since our formation is geared at restoring those values he loved and remains steadfast to defend and protect.”
