NPP Steps Up Campaign In Ho
{sidebar id=11 align=right}Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ho-Central Parliamentary Candidate, has stepped up his campaign, with forays into 13 communities in the constituency.
The communities are Tanyigbe, Takla, Hodzo, Nyive, Atikpui, Shia, Klave, Hoe, Matse, Taviefe, Ziave, Klefe and Sokode.
A statement signed by the Mr Kojo Ampofo, Press-Secretary of the Ho-Central NPP, said the thrust of Dr Letsa’s message was tackling the extensive poverty in those areas, through pragmatic rural development policies.
The statement said the development policies would be youth-focused entrepreneurship promotions to give livelihoods to young people.
It said Dr Letsa, a medical doctor and entrepreneur, was accompanied by his wife, Victoria Letsa and Mr Ohene Frimpong, NPP Ho-Central Constituency Chairman, and as they went on their rounds they emphasised the NPP flagship message of free Senior High School.
The statement said Dr Letsa also complained about the near collapse of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) with the promise that the NPP would fix the scheme back to vibrancy when it forms government.
It said at every stop, enthusiastic people cheered, shouting the catchphrase “free education, change now”. Dr Letsa is contending for the Ho-Central seat the second time on the NPP ticket.
In 2008, his first time, he got 6,228 votes or 11.5 per cent while Captain George Kofi Nfojoh, winning on the NDC ticket, got 47,036 or 87 percent.

Kofi Wayo Endorsed...
14 October 2012
Mr Charles Kofi Wayo has promised to provide more jobs to the nation when given the mandate to lead the nation in the December polls.
He said this after he was endorsed by the United Renaissance Party (URP) by a popular acclamation at the party’s national delegate’s congress held at the Dwabirem, Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Kumasi.
The URP’s first National Vice-Chairman, Mr Fredua Agyemang, who had declared his intention to contest for the flag-bearer position, earlier withdrew his nomination.
Mr Wayo said he would ensure efficient management of the nation’s enormous human and material resources to turn the economy around and that with his 46 years of experience living in Europe and being well connected, he would fix the socio-economic problems facing the people.
The nation would be weaned from its dependence on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, he said, adding that he found it difficult to rationalize why Ghanaians should be living in poverty in the midst of abundant resources.
He promised to be accountable to the people and work tirelessly to address their felt needs - good drinking water, electricity, roads and the others.
Mr Wayo appealed to voters to reject vote-buying politicians who would end up riding in long motorcades, receiving and exchanging pleasantries with foreign dignitaries, instead of visiting the communities to find at firsthand the needs of the people.
Mr Wayo urged the members of his party to intensify their electioneering campaign to win power.
The congress also elected the URP’s National Executives, Chaired by Mr Michael Okyere.
The others included Mr Fredua Agyemang, Vice Chairman, Mr Joseph Cudjoe, Secretary, Mr Kwabena Boateng, Organizer, and Mr David Amansunu, Youth Organizer.
The rest were Ms Mercy Nelson, Women Organizer, Mr Abdulai Moro, Treasurer, and Mr Ibrahim Issah, Communication and Education.
They were all elected unopposed.

"Konadu Rawlings Has Lost Her Legacy In NDC"
A Political Scientist, Ransford Gyampo has opined that Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has thrown away her legacy and respect within the ruling National Democratic Congress.
According to him although Mrs. Rawlings has a right to lead the National Democratic Party which is a breakaway party from NDC, her move is very risky.
He explained saying, “she has left her invaluable legacy within the ruling party as a key founding member. Her quest to contest Professor Mills was not timeous that was why she seem to have been humiliated until the time that she tended in her resignation, she was still seen as a serious force to reckon with within the party.”
Mr. Gyampo opined Mrs. Rawlings’ decision to quit the NDC may pay off if her intention is to push the party into position “and then with the help of her husband, re-capture it when the party has been in opposition.”
He added that breakaway parties have often not done well in terms of capturing political power “but they have done well in terms of taking quite a number of votes from the parties that they broke away from. Given the slim difference between votes that was gotten by the ruling party to win the 2008 election, any move like this could be catastrophic for the party.”

Asiedu Nketia Serves Notice To Ex-President Rawlings...
The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has served notice to ex-President Jerry John Rawlings the leadership of the ruling party will meet to decide his fate following his appearance at the congress of the National Democratic Party (NDP) on Saturday.
According to him, if Mr. Rawlings’ actions are found to be in breach of the NDC’s constitution and if the implications of his utterances suggest he has left the party, “we will wish him well.”
He stated: “Nobody flouts NDC constitution and gets away with it.” Mr. Rawlings, who is the founder of the NDC, on Saturday, endorsed the candidature of his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings at the maiden congress of the breakaway party after she was unanimously endorsed as the flagbearer of the NDP.
He also pointed out that most of the parliamentary candidates of the NDC are going to lose their seats in the 2012 elections scheduled to take place on December 7.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Campaign Trail on Sunday, Mr. Nketia said: “We do not have any individual in the NDC who can be called permanent members. We are all subject to the party’s constitution so the same laws that govern our membership, govern everybody else. We will listen to the evidence and then the National Executive Committee will meet and then we will proceed from whatever decision the National Executive Committee will take.”
He, however, stated that the fortunes of the party will not be affected in the December general elections saying, “I do not think it will affect our party, beyond the general effect it will be having on all the other parties in the country. NDC’s train can never be stopped; it will get to its destination.”
