Frank AgyekumKufuor Is Happy With Court Proceedings; NDC Stop Tickling Yourselves

06 May 2013

Spokesperson for former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Frank Agyekum, has debunked claims that the former President sent a delegation to the residence of Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, 2012 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to persuade him from continuing with the election petition case currently on-going at the Supreme Court.

Monday, 6th April edition of the Informer newspaper had as one of its headline: “Discontinue Court Case; Or...Kufuor Tells Akufo-Addo”.

According to the story, former President Kufuor asked Nana Addo to discontinue the court case because the live telecast of the court proceedings was exposing the NPP to public ridicule.

“The former President believes that, Afari-Gyan will expose how infantile the NPP’s allegation of ‘persons voting without biometric verification” their (Informer newspaper) source disclosed.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s news at Midday, Monday, Frank Agyekum asked that the story be ignored because ‘they are mere fabrications’.

"I find this very laughable because I can’t see the head and tail of the story. I don’t know where the Informer got such information from. It is not true. Nothing like that has happened. Former President Kufuor has not sent anybody to Nana Akufo-Addo to discuss such issues,” he asserted.

Mr. Agyekum rather indicated that the former President is excited about the case at the Supreme Court and backs everything Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice presidential candidate is doing in the witness box so far.

“He is rather happy and backs everything happening at the Supreme Court because he knows it is going in our favour. Ghanaians should not pay attention to such unfounded allegations. They are all fabrications. They (NDC) are just saying all these things because of fear and it should be ignored....we are not afraid at all. As for Informer and all the pro-NDC newspapers, they should go on deceiving themselves,” he stated.
