Executive Director of IMANI Ghana, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe believes it was a great failure on the part of the ruling NDC and President John Mahama to not have seen the wisdom in what Nana Addo was suggesting about Free SHS policy during the 2012 election campaign.

Inasmuch as he sees nothing wrong in NDC implementing the Free SHS policy now, he said the President should have first accepted that he goofed when he denigrated the Free SHS policy with 60 media appearances during the 2012 election campaign.

According to him, the introduction of the Free SHS policy by President Mahama in Parliament was most the fraudulently introduced policy since it came without any budget to support it and creating room for people to see politicians as opportunists.

Speaking in an interview on Oman Fm’s National Agenda Morning Show, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe pressed on the ruling NDC to have openly admitted their mistake before smuggling it into Parliament; describing the act as the most dishonest on the part of the ruling government.

“I was very disappointed in President Mahama even though I can agree that there is nothing wrong going back for a good policy, but it was too short a time for a policy you have denigrated with over 60 media appearances. He didn’t even use the proper means to introduce it; I think it was most fraudulently introduced in Parliament without any budget provisions,” he stated.

“There was nothing wrong accepting that they goofed, that even though they didn’t want the policy, now they have seen that it may be a vote changer so they are doing this...I think that open admission should have come first before smuggling it into Parliament; I think it is the most dishonest...Politicians must be credible and don’t just wake up and start using policies by heart,” he chided.

He was of the view that it was a great failure on the part of the ruling NDC not to have seen the wisdom in what Nana Addo was propagating at that time after spending a lot of money to implement unprofitable policies.
