‘NPP national officers likely to lose their posts

Director for Elections for the New Patriotic Party, Martin Adjei Korsah says the current national officers seeking re-election are likely to lose their positions.

According to him, the just ended regional elections which saw a lot of the old folks kicked out of office, is an indication of a new trend in the electoral pattern which will have a negative impact on their fortunes.

At least seven incumbent chairpersons lost their positions in the regional elections organised over the weekend. This, the director of elections noted, could signal an era of new faces in the party.

Speaking on the "Badwam" programme on Adom TV, Monday, Mr. Adjei Korsah noted that voters have decided to rest the elderly executives to rebrand the party, hence the incumbent national officers will find it difficult to retain their posts come March 1, 2014 when the NPP goes to congress.

Meanwhile, the NPP on Monday opened nominations for persons interested in contesting positions at the national level.

Mr. Adjei Korsah said aspirants would have to pay an amount of Gh¢500 before picking nomination forms.

Those contesting the National Chairmanship slot will be required to pay a sum of Gh¢5000 when submitting the forms while those vying for other positions would be required to pay not less than Gh¢3,000.
