A former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, has said the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidates for the December elections, Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, are the best pair to lead the party in its bid to recapture political power.

Commenting on the pair’s chances since Dr. Bawumia was selected by the NPP flagbearer as running mate, Mr. Kufuor noted that although not many people were initially enthused about the choice, the party has now realised the contributions of Dr. Bawumia could lead to victory in the upcoming polls.

“The pair did not make it the first time but that is how politics is. Now they are back together and it is beginning to look like a pair made in heaven. Perhaps if they had made it the first time Ghanaians would not have appreciated them,” the ex-President said.

The former president was speaking at the 5th Ferdinand Ayim Memorial Lectures held in Accra on Wednesday where Dr. Bawumia gave a speech on the theme: “The State of the Economy.”

Mr. Kufuor said he was confident that Ghanaians will make the right choice after assessing three years of the Mills-led administration.
