He is now facing two counts of defrauding by false pretense and causing financial loss to the state.

The self-confessed financier of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) was standing trial with three others, Chief State Attorney, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh, his wife, Gifty Nerquaye-Tetteh and Mr. Paul Asimenu, a Director at the Legal Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, over a GHC51 million judgment debt payment to Mr Woyome.

They faced charges of conspiracy to commit crime, defrauding by false pretense aiding and abetment of crime, and corrupting public officials in the controversial GH¢51 million judgement debt.

But the state entered a nolle prosequi Tuesday on the basis of which the court discharged them.

It was suspected that the state would re-arrest them and proffer different charges against them and it did except that only Mr Woyome has been re-arrested.

He pled not guilty to all the two counts of defrauding the state by false pretense and causing financial loss to the state and was immediately granted bail.

It is unclear whether the state would do same with the remaining three. Their lawyers say they do not think there is a basis for their re-arrest.
