We have learnt with great shock that some journalists have been manhandled by some New Patriotic Party supporters. The NPP condemns in the strongest terms possible such acts against journalists who are only doing their jobs.

We repeat our categorical condemnation of any acts of violence perpetrated against any citizen of the Republic including journalists, and reiterate our call for calm and patience on the part of our supporters.

It has always been our position that peaceful pursuit of political objectives is the only acceptable course of action, even in the face of a systematic, deliberate and coordinated effort to steal an election.

Indeed, given the political crisis gripping this country, which poses a threat to the rights of all Ghanaians, the conscientious efforts and devotion to the truth exhibited by our press corps, is more essential than ever.

As partners in the democratic process, the NPP sincerely apologizes for any harm inflicted upon any members of the media. We have always appreciated your contribution to the development of this country and the evolution of our democracy.

We are counting on you to tell the truth about what happened during the election as the evidence comes to light, and condemn any violent acts that impede you from continuing to do your good work.

……signed........

(NATIONAL CHAIRMAN)
